Conveyor Holdback / Anti-Runback Units
Backstop device fitted to inclined conveyors and elevators to prevent the belt or bucket line from running back under load if drive power is lost. Sprag or roller elements free-wheel in the conveying direction and lock instantly in reverse, fitted to the gearbox shaft extension or head-pulley shaft with a torque arm to react the holding torque. Contact-free (lift-off) designs are available for high overrunning speeds, where continuous contact would otherwise wear the element. A critical safety component on any incline conveyor.
