Maina Universal Shafts

Cardan-shaft (universal joint) propshaft assembly for transmitting torque between shafts at an angle, or across a variable distance. Needle-bearing cross journals carry the load at each joint, a splined centre section compensates for length changes as the shaft operates, and flange connections are machined to standard bolt patterns at each end. Typical in mill drives and mobile plant.

Common on rolling mill roll drives and continuous casters, where the work roll moves vertically as material thickness changes, as well as general mechanical drives needing to transmit torque between shafts that aren’t — and can’t be made — perfectly aligned.
